The Nobel Prizes were instituted in 1895 at the last will of Alfred Nobel, a Swedish industrialist, and began to be awarded in 1901 in the categories of Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and Peace.
Throughout the history of the awarding of the Nobel Prizes, only 53 women have been awarded the famous award (12 in Medicine or Physiology, 15 in Literature, 3 in Physics, 5 in Chemistry and 18 with the Nobel Prize in Peace).
The Nobel Women exhibition honors and unveils a selection of seventeen award-winning women in each of the five disciplines established by Alfred Nobel in his will, two who nearly succeeded, and the Swedish philanthropist who bequeathed the world awards to greater prestige.
The project is intended as a global tribute to the award-winners, with exhibition panels to promote knowledge; silhouettes where to take the group photo; exhibition material for showcases and walls in which to appreciate original pieces, recreation of workspaces especially dedicated to the little ones; audiovisual, with which to get a quick idea of their professional careers and didactic workshops thanks to which students of different ages carry out activities aimed at bringing them closer to the award-winning ones. The tribute is enriched in a very special way with portraits of the Asturian artist Marcos Tamargo, made in his “MoveArt” technique, with which he is having great exhibition success at fairs and galleries around the world.
Whenever possible, a parallel agenda of events is set up, with lectures, dramatized readings, planting of trees and rose bushes, concerts, round tables, gastronomic tributes, placement of plaques in his honor ...
The main objective of the exhibition is to make society known, a selection of women who have fought for an ideal and have become world leaders in various disciplines, as well as highlighting the fruits of study, effort, teamwork , generosity, social commitment and solidarity; in general, the values that are largely inherent in achieving the Nobel Prize.
The exhibition includes personalities of various specialties, so it is aimed at all audiences, both general and specialized. It was opened in September 2017 at the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid, where it exceeded 260,000 visits. Since then it has been exhibited at CASYC de Santander, Seville Science House, Colon House, Pérez Galdós House-Museum and León-Castillo House-Museum in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ...
